How Fleet Trackers Help to Improve Efficiency and Cut Costs for Fleet Owners
Being a parent is not easy. You would almost always have to be the villain in the eyes of your child in a bid to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
There are many stages in parenthood when the parents remain anxious regarding the well-being of their child. But none of those stages even come close to that time when your teenage child learns how to drive a car and decides to take a road trip.
So, as a responsible parent, what can you do to ensure the safety and well-being of your child?
You can use an OBD2 vehicle tracker.
Why?
Well, using vehicle trackers to track the movement of your teenage child who’s planning to take a road trip can reward you with the following benefits.
Teen driver tracking ensures safety
Teen driver monitoring via GPS trackers is not a new thing but its adoption in the past few years has been exponential. The reason is simple. People back in the day didn’t feel the need to track their teenage children. But recent statistics show that accidents on the US roads are skyrocketing. And most of the time, the cars that caused the accident were driven by teenagers! Hence, parents are finally understanding that even when their teenage driver is not picking up their phone, tracking their location is possible – thanks to teen GPS trackers!
You can ensure that your child is driving under the speed limit
Driving under the speed limit is paramount when it comes to staying safe on the roads and keeping others safe. Additionally, driving under the speed limit offers a driver the time needed to bring the vehicle under control and keep it from crashing. Teenage drivers often fail to control their urge to feel the adrenaline rush that comes with driving like a mad person. With GPS teen tracking devices, parents can ensure their teenage child is not breaking the rules of the road and is being a responsible driver.
You can ensure that your teenage child doesn’t stray far from home!
Most teen driver tracking devices these days come with the feature to set virtual fences on the in-app map that comes bundled with the tracking devices. These virtual fences on the map are known as geofences or geozones. With the help of bespoke geozones, parents can ensure their teenage child does not stray far away from home with the family car. Additionally, parents can also benefit from the fact that instantaneous notifications will be sent to their phones whenever their teenage child driver enters or exits a geozone.
How to add a tracking device to your teenage child’s car?
That’s easy! All you would have to do is buy a Vyncs GPS tracker and follow the few simple installation steps mentioned in the product package. An overview of those steps is as follows –
- Park your vehicle under the open sky. Don’t park it in an underground parking lot or a covered garage. Also, make sure that the area is not surrounded by skyscrapers or thick tree canopy. This will let the Vyncs device seamlessly connect with the Vyncs servers and the GPS satellite constellation.
- Plug the Vyncs device on the OBD-II port in your vehicle. The OBD-II port of your vehicle is trapezoidal shaped. It is located typically under the dashboard, beneath the steering wheel, or above the gas pedal.
- Start the vehicle which in turn will illuminate the Red LED of the Vyncs device. Drive for at least 10 minutes.
- Turn the engine off and wait for another 5 minutes before proceeding to the next step.
- When the LED of your Vyncs device completely turns off, the ‘SYNC’ process is complete. If the LED of the Vyncs device is still ‘blinking’ follow the steps mentioned in the ‘How To Power Cycle Your Vyncs GPS Tracker?’ section mentioned below.
- Log into your Vyncs account to review vehicle information once the above steps are completed.
- Browse to the ‘Location’ ->‘By Trip’ page from the top menu. You should see the last known location on that page on the map. If not, make sure that you park the vehicle under the open sky. You can also power cycle the device using the steps mentioned below. If location and vehicle data still don’t show up, keep the device plugged into the OBD-II port of your vehicle for 24 hours and do your normal driving. If the issue isn’t resolved, please contact us using one of the following methods.
Tracking teen drivers is not a bad thing!
Even if your teenage child, who recently learned how to drive the family car, screams and shouts make them understand that as a parent, tracking their driving habits and the real-time location of the vehicle is not a bad thing. In case they ever come across a stalker, or their car starts acting out in the middle of nowhere, they can call up their parents – who, on the other hand, can use the real-time location of the car and arrive at the location of the broken down car in no time! So go ahead. Buy that teen car tracker today!
