Back in the day, vehicles used to be a luxury. However, they were nothing more than electromechanical contraptions with no creature comforts that transported people/cargo from one point to the other. These days, cars are considered a necessity and at the same time, come equipped with a host of creature comforts and enhanced features.
This post in the following sections will highlight a few car features that every OEM should make a standard offering for their car lineups.
Let’s begin.
Automatic headlamps or high beams
Just like a modern tracker device for vehicle that can help automatically track the location of a car, automatic headlamps with auto high beam feature can automatically select high or low beam depending on oncoming traffic and available ambient light.
This is a feature that adds quite a bit of value to a vehicle. The reason is simple. Automatic headlamps and high beam is more or less a safety feature that lets the driver keep their hands on the wheel instead of fiddling with the headlight stalk while driving the car.
However, we recommend that if you buy a car with automatic headlamps and auto high beam feature, ensure that you also use a car tracking device that offers vehicle diagnostic services. In this way, you will also be able to ensure that the system is functional. And when it isn’t, you’ll know and will be able to fix the issue right away.
Electric door handles
You have seen flush, hidden, or electric door handles in certain cars like the Tesla Model 3. Now, to be honest, flush door handles don’t really add any value to a car except the fact that they look cool. This is a modern feature that every car should have granted. However, unlike an OBD2 tracker or a car GPS tracker, that actually adds value to a car; flush door handles do not add any value. Additionally, a car with flush door handles will definitely cost more than vehicles that come with normal door handles.
We recommend that you buy such cars only if you prefer the ‘cool’ look they offer. If you are looking for value-adding car features, you can choose a car that has proximity sensors installed in it.
A car with proximity sensor(s) would lock all of its doors when you walk away from it and unlock all doors when you step close to the vehicle. This feature should be a standard offering – which is yet to happen.
If you find such a car that has this feature installed in it straight from the factory, buy it without a second thought.
Tire pressure monitoring
Just like owning a car tracking device has become a norm, Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) are slowly but surely becoming a standard part of cars from all brands. The reason is simple. TPMSs make it easy for a car owner to keep track of their vehicle’s tire pressures. Additionally, the instances of a flat tire, a tire blowout or unevenly wearing tires become things of the past for vehicles that come with a TPMS.
Additionally, since tire pressure directly influences fuel economy and the amount of traction available to each tire of a vehicle, it makes sense to own a vehicle that comes equipped with OEM-installed TPMS now, doesn’t it?
Don’t let people at the dealership upsell you a car
Unlike GPS OBD tracker brands and brands that offer GPS tracker for vehicles, car salespeople are hardwired to sell cars and fulfill their monthly targets. To achieve their targets, the salespeople at car showrooms often try to upsell certain trims and options packages to customers. Don’t fall for this. Even if you want to own a car with flush door handles or ventilated seats, remember fancy features don’t come cheap. Additionally, the more creature comforts a car has, the higher the chances for the car to break down. Furthermore, fixing up fancy features of a modern car also entails hefty bills. Hence, try to buy a car with the features that you need. That’s the way to be a smart car buyer, in our opinion.
